Bob Meehan is the Principal of Olechem and a Member of the Society of Maritime Arbitrators (SMA)
since 2006. He brings more than 35 years of commercial maritime experience and over 20 years
of experience in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

Throughout his career, Bob has developed extensive expertise across the LPG, olefins, dry cargo, clean and dirty tanker, and chemical tanker sectors. Combining deep industry knowledge with decades of experience negotiating contracts, managing claims, and resolving complex commercial disputes, he is well qualified to serve as a mediator or arbitrator in a broad range of maritime and commercial matters.

In addition to leading complex commercial negotiations, Bob has actively mediated and advised on a broad range of shipping disputes, including charter-party interpretation, safe-berth and safe-port issues, breach-of-contract claims, demurrage matters, force majeure events, and other commercial maritime controversies.

Bob is the author of multiple articles on common maritime disputes published in The Arbitrator, the official publication of the Society of Maritime Arbitrators (SMA).
​
He is also a frequent speaker on maritime arbitration and commercial shipping issues at industry
conferences and educational institutions, including SUNY Maritime College.
